Florida State SeminolesBobby Bowden and the Florida State Seminoles are known for being winners. Bowden fields solid teams year in and year out, and it is rare that down years come around. However, the past couple years have been considered just that for the Noles, who have had five loss seasons two out of the past four years. In fact, looking up and down the roster, it would look as if the Noles are in pure rebuilding mode in 2006. Bobby Bowden hopes to dispel that notion. He is out to prove that his Noles are not rebuilding but are in serious contention in the tough ACC conference. Each and every year Florida State manages to get top recruiting classes, and it appears as if the only chance that Florida State has to be successful in 2006 is if this young talent matures extremely quickly so they can contribute immediately. Drew Weatherford is a talent at QB for the Noles and having experience returning at QB is one of the Noles biggest advantages on offense this year. The rest of the offense returns a total of four starters, and so Weatherford will have to rely on and help with the progression of his young offensive squad. The Noles defense is even younger than the offense and, returning just five starters, is lined with freshmen and sophomores. If this young talent can’t mature very quickly, the Noles are going to find themselves in loads of trouble. However, as Bobby Bowden himself has pointed out, it is still very possible for success to greet the Noles if the talent can show the right chemistry. That is the situation that remains to be, and for every Florida State fan, hopes to be, seen. Leave a Reply |
