Michigan Wolverines Preview

If you want to talk about coaches on the hot seat in 2006, look no further than Michigan Wolverines head coach Lloyd Carr. Michigan is known for winning, just look at their overall winning percentage in the history of the program, and Michigan fans expect winners. Despite Lloyd Carr’s success just a couple years ago, the memories of Michigan fans is extremely short, and they are already calling out for the dismissal of the Wolverines coach.

Knowing that, expect Carr to have his talented Michigan squad in good form in 2006. From top to bottom, Michigan is one of the most talented teams in the country and they have all the tools in place to make a big run in the Big 10 in 2006. Although they finished at only a measly 7-5 in 2005, Michigan has geared up for 2006 with a few successful recruiting years and by having their star QB and RB returning in the likes of Chad Henne and Mike Hart, respectively.

Michigan returns a total of twelve players from the 2005 squad, six on offense and six on defense, and this experience is spread out fairly evenly over the various positions with any single position being necessarily loaded in 2006. That is not to say there aren’t great talents, however, and, in addition to the likes of the one two punch of Chad Henne and Mike Hart, the Wolverines can also rely on their top WR Steve Breaston to perform extremely well in 2006.

This new and returning talent is what Lloyd Carr and the Wolverines will be using successfully in 2006. They have just enough returning experience to combine with the young talent to help to make the team extremely competitive in not only the Big Ten, but also in the NCAA as a whole. If all goes as planned, Michigan fans will be silenced about firing Lloyd Carr before the season has concluded.
